The time that I tried reflexology…

Natural Recharge

Earlier this week, I had the chance to go to Natural Recharge in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., to try something I’ve never done before… Reflexology.  According to Dictionary.com, reflexology is “a system of massaging specific areas of the foot or sometimes the hand in order to promote healing, relieve stress, etc., in other parts of the body.”

OK, if you’re anything like me (a bit of an “alternative medicine” skeptic), you’re thinking, “Yeah, that stuff doesn’t work.” Well, people, you would be wrong. I was wrong. Reflexology does work. So much so, that when I woke up the next morning, I was sore – as if I’d gotten a full-body massage. But, it was that delicious kind of sore. I felt so relaxed, and at ease – despite the soreness (which a couple of Aleve took care of). And, the staff and atmosphere at Natural Recharge was phenomenal.

Guy, this appointment alone may have made me an “alternative medicine” convert. While I won’t be shucking “traditional medicine” anytime soon, I will most definitely be incorporating some alternative methods into my lifestyle.

In fact, I’ll be heading back to Natural Recharge soon, to get a couple of other treatments:

  • Mini Raindrop Massage - Massage experts will present the process of integrating Essential Oils and a massage together for either emotional or physical well-being. The Raindrop Technique is a relaxing and energizing sequence of applying therapeutic-grade essential oils combined with specialized massage techniques that bring structural and electrical alignment to the body.
  • Zyto Compass Scan - This simple assessment uses your skin’s electricity to determine bio-markers and the body’s systems out of balance (not diagnostic, for educational purposes only). Using the Zyto Compass Scan with the use of Young Living Essential Oils and Nutritional Products can help you measure overall improvements weekly or monthly.  It also can give you an indication of stressed systems in your body. Each scan provides a full detailed report of biomarkers out of sync.

I can’t wait!

Desperate by @SarahMae and @Sally_Clarkson {@BookSneeze Review}

I’ll admit it… I’ve been a fan of Sarah Mae, since she was blogging at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee. I’ve long-since admired her writing style, honesty and openness. That’s why I was so excited to read her book, Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe. Add to that, Sally Clarkston as the co-author and you get a very, very stoked Bree.

“Desperate is for those who love their children to the depths of their souls but who have also curled up under their covers, fighting back tears, and begging God for help. It’s for those who have ever wondered what happened to all their ideals for what having children would be like. For those who have ever felt like all the “experts” have clearly never had a child like theirs. For those who have prayed for a mentor. For those who ever felt lost and alone in motherhood.”

Here are my thoughts on Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe – in bullets:

  • As the mom of an extremely rambunctious little boy, I can definitely relate to the feeling of desperation. However, the book was really for mamas of littles – not the 6-year-old I have.
  • Even though I’m a bit farther along in my motherhood journey than the target audience for Desperate, I still found parts of the book extremely useful.
  • I wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone with kiddos 4-years-old and under.
  • I loved that at the end of every chapter, there was a QR code you could scan and it took you to a video specific to that chapter.
  • Having Sally Clarkston as the “seasoned” mama providing support to “newbie” mama Sarah Mae? Brilliant.
  • While this book was excellent to read on my own, it would be wonderful for a book club. It’s so chocked full of relatable stories, that there will be tons to discuss.

In closing, Desperate was a very well-written book. I recommend it to all moms of littles.

Pink Lining Bags {A Review}

When I was approached to do a review of a Pink Lining diaper bag, my initial reaction was to decline (since I have a 6-year-old). But, then I visited their Website. Let me tell y’all… these bags are gorgeous.

So, I had a thought… why couldn’t I use the bag as a purse? Or a laptop bag? I decided I would wait until I received it my Poppins Bag in Thistle & Dragonfly, to figure it out.

This bag is lovely – and from a diaper bag point-of-view, super-functional.

I wish this bag was out, when the kid was younger. I would’ve loved it!

Fortunately, it works perfect as a laptop bag as well. I use it for my personal laptop, because it’s so pretty. Don’t want to waste it on work. ;)

They also have wallets, bottle holders and mini rucksacks for kids.

The price range for the Pink Lining goodies is $20 to 120. Check them on the Web, Facebook and Twitter.

Bonus: Those of you who use it as a diaper bag… you can totally repurpose it as a work/laptop bag when your kiddos are out of diapers!

Disclaimer: I was provided a Poppins Bag in Thistle & Dragonfly, free of charge, for the purposes of doing this review. As always, opinions stated are mine.
