A while back, I had a conversation with a friend about how being an adult sucks. Well, not all the time… but yeah it sometimes does.
But, conversely, being an adult kinda rocks.
Over the past week I took an unofficial poll, via my social media channels. I asked my friends/followers what were the best and worst things about being an adult. Here’s the gist of what I got…
Best
- Freedom
- Money
- Independence
- Knowledge
Worst
- Bills
- Money
- Responsibility
- Knowledge
I find it interesting that money and knowledge are on both lists. What do you think that means?

I think money makes both lists for these reasons:
Best – When you’re an adult, you generally have more money than you did to do with as you please. Prime example. As a child, I’d spend hours drooling over LEGo catalogues dreaming about sets I would never own. Now, if I really want a set, I can buy it!
Worst – You simply need money to live. You need to allocate it to pay bills and to survive before spending it on luxuries. As a younger person, you could pretty much do with it as you please. I think this should technically be lumped with responsibility. Also, money makes adults do crazy things.
Good points, Eric.
