Mr. Halloweenster Saves the Day {Book Review}

Being an October baby (and a horror movie freak), means Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  As such, it’s become one of the kid’s favorites as well.

That’s why I was so excited to have the opportunity to read (to the kid) and review Mr. Halloweenster Saves the Day by Noam Kugelmass (there’s also a movie on the site).

Mr. Halloweenster Saves the Day is about spreading the message that Halloween isn’t just about candy; that the real fun comes from creativity and imagination, wearing costumes and being silly. The goal being to encourage kids and their families to consider consuming and giving away healthier alternatives to junk food, like fruit leather, dried cranberries, pretzels, raisins and granola bars. You know, treats with less artificial ingredients, fat, salt and/or sugar.

Mr. Halloweenster Saves the Day was a really good book that both the kid and I enjoyed. Plus, I really loved its message. Kids get way too much crap on Halloween. Normally, we go through the kid’s haul, take a few pieces out for him to have, and then I take the extras to work for my candy dish.

Mr. Halloweenster also has a “Healthier Halloween” contest, where you share a Halloween home video, recipe or pics for a chance to win a kids Halloween book, T-Shirt or a grand prize of healthier Halloween treats for 100 trick-or-treaters!

  1. I’m a huge fan of Halloween! We always decorate, dress up, and of course head out trick or treating and like you I bring the greater majority of the candy into work to share. If I don’t it ends up sitting around till spring!
